Reminiscences

,,,.^
ShriMaharaj once said, "He who has subjugated his tongue is already on the way to attainment of God," When a Sadhaka asked what this meant, ShriMaharaj replied, "The tongue has two functions: To taste food, and to give vocal form to the word. To gain control over one's speech, one should practise chanting of Nama. Chant Nama as much as possible. When the number of repetitions ofNama reaches   one   to   two   crores,   there   is   a   natural reduction in the desire for food. The body can do with a smaller amount of food. Eating only limited food brings contentment. In later stages, the urge to speak itself weakens. It is a pity that no one wants to experience the truth of this."

Reminiscences

Giving away of food sanctifies the hands, Going on a Pilgrimage sanctifies the Feet, Chanting of Nama sanctifies the Lips, and the Heart is sanctified by unreserved surrender toGod.
ShriMaharaj once said, "Futile it is to ask which deeds degrade and which ennoble one; he whom Rama blesses gains all."* Haripant, the school teacher, asked, "Maharaj, when does Rama confer His grace on someone?" ShriMaharaj said, "It is when the hands, the feet, the lips and the heart get sanctified that Rama confers His grace. The hands get sanctified by the giving away of food, the feet are sanctified by going on a pilgrimage, the lips get sanctified by the chanting of Nama, and the heart gets purified by surrender to God. Thereafter Rama cannot but confer His grace."

Reminiscences

Turn a problem of everyday life into an opportunityFor pursuit of attainment of God.

Once a large number of persons had gathered at Gondavale, when it rained unexpectedly for about half an hour. A problem arose as to where all the people could get a dry place to sleep. Then Sri Maharaj said, 'There is a
very simple way out of this predicament. Each one should go to bed only after finding out whether or not the next person has slept. Let the entire night be spent in chanting Nama and singing bhajans, so that one will not even realize when it dawns. The joy of chanting Nama can be enjoyed to heart's content. To sleep at night is a daily event. If an opportunity arises some night to keep a vigil in honour of God, why not treat it as a favour of God ?"
