Parables & Stories told by Sri Maharaj
THE YOUNG WIFE.
Thee was once a young man who lived in the country-side. He had a large house with a garden round it. He got married to a nice young girl. In memory of their marriage, they planted a mango sapling in the garden. The young man put costly manure so that it may grow into a fine tree. After some days, however, the sapling died. He was surprised and asked his wife how that could have taken place. She said, ' I do not know how it happened. I tended the sapling with great care. I put hot ashes at its bottom and gave it cold water some times'. The young man felt very sorry but did not speak a word.
Moral:- Worldly disciples are like the young lady. The Master plants the sweet and delicate sapling of the love of God in the disciple's heart. He tends it with motherly care. But the disciple puts at its bottom hot ashes of intense attachment to carnal pleasures. Sometimes he pours the cool water of the Divine Name. As a result, the delicate sapling suffers death. The Master is helpless. The disciple is left without the love of God.
