ಅಮೃತವಾಣಿ - ಒಂದು ಸ್ವಂತ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ

ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ೧: ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಏನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವಿರಿ? ಜನರಿಗೆ ಏನೆಂದು ಉಪದೇಶ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ?

ಉತ್ತರ: ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಏನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವಿರೊ ನಾನು ಅದೇನೂ ಆಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಗಿಯುತ್ತ್ವವೆಯೊ ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆನಂದದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆನಂದವೆಂದರೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನ.

ನಾನು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೀನ ದೀನ ಅಜ್ನ್ಯಾನಿಯಾದ ದಾಸನಾಗಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಉಪದೇಶ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾರು ತಾವಾಗಿಯೇ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೋ ಹಾಗೂ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಏನಾದರೂ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಾರೊ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಕೇವಲ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ಅಖಂಡ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿರೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ೨: ನೀವು ಏನು ವ್ಯವಸಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ?

ಉತ್ತರ: ನಾನು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ಅಖಂಡ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆಯ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ೩: ಮಹಾರಾಜ, ತಮ್ಮ ಬಾಲ್ಯವು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಳೆದಿರುತ್ತದೆ?

ಉತ್ತರ: ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೂ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾಮದ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಛತ್ರವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ನನಗೆ ನಾಮ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯಾರೂ ಹೇಳಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಮ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡೇ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಅಜ್ಜನದು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರೇಮವಿದ್ದಿತು. ಆದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಒಂದು ನಾಮದ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ಬೇರೆ ಏನೂ ಸೇರುತ್ತಿರಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೂ, ಈಗಲೂ ಸೇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ಬೇಕೆಂಬ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಒಳಗಿನಿಂದ ನಾಮವೇ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ನನಗೆ ನಾಮದಿಂದ ಸೂಚನೆ ಬಂದಿರುವುದರಿಂದಲೇ ನಾನು ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಿದ್ದಾಗಿನಿಂದಲೂ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾಮದ ಕೃಪೆಯಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ನನಗೆ ನಾಮವೊಂದೆ ಸತ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದೆಂದು ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾಮವು ಸರ್ವ ಸದ್ಗುಣಗಳ ಭಂಡಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದೆ ನಮ್ಮ ನಿಜವಾದ ಧನವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನೊ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ನಾಮವನ್ನು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಯಾವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಯಾವ ಭೂಮಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತಿದ್ದನೆಂಬುದು ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ನಾಮದ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ಅವಸ್ಥೆಯು ಹೇಗಿತ್ತೆಂದರೆ ಯಾರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಯಾವ ವಿದ್ಯೆ ಇರುತ್ತಿತ್ತೊ ಅವರು ಅದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತಾವಾಗಿಯೇ ಕರೆದು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಆ ವಿದ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನ ವಾಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಠಯೋಗ, ಮಂತ್ರ ತಂತ್ರ ಪ್ರಯೋಗ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಾಮದ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಪ್ಪಗೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

At least you obey me now

A pensioner met Shri Maharaj. Having listened to a  complaint from him abut his son, Shri Maharaj said to him, ""Ask your son to meet me." The man said, "He is too un-co-operating and unbelieving to listen to anyone. He will not agree to meet you." Shri Maharaj again said, "Even then convey my message that he should meet me." The man gave the same reply to Shri Maharaj. After a couple of times more, Shri Maharaj chuckled and said with much tact, "Leave aside the matter of his obeying my message; at least you obey me and do this much." At this the man fell silent. Later the son did meet Shri Maharaj and agreed to behave as he was advised.

How did one behave at that Age?

Once a well-educated pensioner, advanced in age, met Shri Maharaj. He complained that his grown-up son did not obey him at all. His contention was that as he had looked after him in the early years, bearing many hardships, he should not now cause him any sorrow. Shri Maharaj said, "I do not feel he deserved much blame!"
The man clarified his complaint by citing a couple of specific examples. Even then  Shri Maharaj repeated himself. Then he said to Shri Maharaj, " I do not understand the meaning underlying what you are saying." Shri Maharaj said, " One should realize one's shortcomings. What I mean is, recall how you behaved with your own father when you were of the same age as your son is now. If you were to recall that you did not behave in a manner in which you expect him to behave now, your feeling of disappointment in your son will lose its edge."  (The gentleman had not behaved well with his father in his own young age)

In the absence of Experience, Mere bookish knowledge is barren..

Once the chief obstetrician of a hospital and the matron met Shri Maharaj. The matron was a European spinster about fifty years of age. Shri Maharaj asked her, " What kind of work do you do in the hospital? She said, " I have to supervise all the nurses, and besides that I have to attend to three or four difficult deliveries every day." Shri Maharaj said, " Four deliveries a day mean one hundred and twenty a month; say, one hundred a month. That amounts to one thousand a year. You have been doing this work for twenty years, which means you have attended to at least twenty thousand deliveries. In spite of all that you have not experienced the pleasure of giving birth to a baby, or the  pleasure of the mother's tender love for a child." She replied, "I have not been fortunate in that regard." Upon this, Shri Maharaj said, "Must not a very similar thing be happening with men of mere high learning?"

ಅನುಭವ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಾಣತನ

ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಗಳು ಅವನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ತೀರಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನ ಬಾಲ್ಯವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕಷ್ತ್ದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಕಳೆಯಿತು. ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದು ವಾರದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಹಾಗೂ ಮುನ್ಸಿಪಾಲಿತಿಯ ಕಂದೀಲಿನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಎಂ.ಎ. ಆದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ನೌಕರಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು. ಅವನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಆದನು. ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯದಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸಾಧುವಿನ ಭೆಟ್ಟಿ ಆಯಿತು. ಸಾಧು ಅವನಿಗೆ "ಯಾವ ಭಗವಂತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಇಂಥ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ದುಕೊತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾನೋ ನೀನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಬೇಡ. ಪ್ರತಿದಿವಸ ಅವನ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗು" ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು "ನಾನು ನಿವೃತ್ತನಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಭಗವಂತನ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆಯುವವನಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ" ಎಂದನು.

ಅವನು ನಿವ್ರುತ್ತನಾದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕುನೂರು ರೂಪಾಯಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿ ವೇತನ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾಯಿತು. ಕೆಲವು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಆ ಸಾಧುವನ್ನು ಭೆಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ "ನಾನು ಮತ್ತೆ ನೌಕರಿ ಮಾಡಲೇ?" ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು, ಆ ಸಾಧುವು ನೌಕರಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾರಣವೇನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು "ಇವಳು ನನ್ನ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಇರುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಇವಳಿಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.ನಾನು ಇವರಿಗಾಗಿ ನೌಕರಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ." ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ಸಾಧುವು "ಅದೇಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ದುಡ್ಡು ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?" ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು "ದುಡ್ಡು ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾನು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ 1೦೦೦೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಇಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ದುಡ್ಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಸಾಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ? ಮುಂದೆ ಅವನದು ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆದೀತು?" ಎನ್ನಲು ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಸಾಧು ನಕ್ಕನು. ಹಾಗೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ, "ಅರೆ! ನೀನು ಸ್ವತಃ ಭಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಿ. ನಿನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಒಂದೂ ದುಡ್ಡು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.ನೀನು ವಾರ ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಊಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿ. ಭಗವಂತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಇಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡವನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಜೋಪಾನ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?" ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು ಏನೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಹೋದನು.

Vykuntha Yekaadashi (28-12-09)

On Vaikunta Yekaadashi day,28-12-09, Monday, after Kakadarathi in the morning, Thousands of devotees had the darshan of the lord through the northern door. Vishnsahasra naama was chanted without break up to 6-30 p.m. At 7-00 p.m. a group of singers lead by Kum.Vani Narayan, chanted Bhajans.

Sri G. Venkannaiah,(1883 to 1969) is a direct disciple of Gondavalekar Sri Brahma chaithanya Maharaj. He belonged to a place called Ganjur, near Chintamani, about 75 kms from Bangalore. This is an attempt to tell how he came into contact with Sri Brahmachaithanya Maharaj.

Sri G.Venkannaiah,was the eldest son of Sri Timmappaiah and Smt.Putta Lakshmma . Sri Timmappaiah was a teacher. He had  lands in  Ganjur village near Chintamani.. Venkannaiah studied civil engineering in Govt. Engineering School in Mysore. He was appointed as Sub-Overseer in the Government public works department. In 1913 he had been transferred to Chikkanayakana halli Taluk. He was posted to supervise the construction of a tank in Malligere village,about 22 miles from Chikkanayakana halli. to supervise the construction of a tank.

 One day, in November,1913, during lunch break, when Venkannaiah was meditating on Sri Ram, sitting under a tree, he heard a big shout  of “Maha Purush, Maha Purush”. When he opened his eyes, he saw a Saint standing with two disciples, before him. When Venkannaiah prostrated before him, the Saint  asked him to come to Gondavale (Gondavaleyaave), and vanished immediately. Sri Venkannaiah did not know what was said as he did not know Marathi. So, he noted it down in his dairy. In the evening, he returned to Chikkanayakanahalli, where he was residing. One of his friends who knew Marathi, said the word expressed by the saint was, “ come to Gondavale”. But, neither Sri Venkannaiah nor his friends knew where Gondavali was. That night he dreamt of a Sri Vaishnava reading Bhagavadgita, and some one pointed out to him that his doubts will be cleared by the Sri Vaishnava. A few days later, when he was returning from the morning walk, he suddenly came across the Sri Vaishnava of his dream, coming in opposite direction. Sri Rangachar, that was his Name, took Sri Venkannaiah to his home. After learning about his experience, Sri Rangachar, went to the pooja room, closed the door, and sat for meditation. Sri Rangachar, was a yogi, and after an hour, he came out from the Pooja room, and told Sri Venkannaiah that the Saint who gave him darshan was Sadguru Sri Brahmachaithanya Maharaj of Gondavale. He said, that he met Sri Maharaj, in his meditation and Sri Maharaj asked both of them to go to Gondavale. He told that Gondvale was a place in Maharashtra, and explained the route to reach the place. Both, Sri Venkannaiah and Sri Rangachar started for Gondavale with in 8 days. When they reached the place, some of the devotees staying there told them that Sri Maharaj had cancelled his programme of going to some other place stating that he has to meet two devotees from a far off place, on that day. They had a nice welcome and they were allotted a room to stay.

In the morning, Venkannaiah, who was standing behind the group of devotees surrounding Sri Maharaj, was called by Sri Maharaj .

  Sri Maharaj  initiated him to Ram-nam, by whispering the Taraka Mantram in his ear.. He asked him to do: 1. Do Namasmarana without break. 2. Spread or propagate Rama-nama. 3. Construct a small Ram-Mandir.4. Carry on Upasana.

Sri Venkannaiah returned to his place and started his Anusthan. After a month, Sri Venkannaiah received a telegram intimating   Sri Maharaj’s departure from his mortal body. Immediately, he went to Gondavale and participated in the funeral ceremony.

Sri  Venkannaiah, who was in the Government service,  could not plan to construct the Sri Rama Mandir  early, as he was being transferred from place to place. But, he did Bhajans and japaanusthan and pooja to Sadguru paduka, at home. He participated during functions in Gondavale and he even went to functions arranged by Sri Brahmanand Maharaj in Venkatapur and Beladadhi. Sri Brahmanand Maharaj used to call him ‘Mysore Buva’.

 Where ever he was transferred on duty, many friends of those places, became devotees of Sri Brahmachaithanya Maharaj. Later on, when he was transferred to Chintamani, his work was in many surrounding places like Hindiganal, Jangamakote, Sidlaghatta, etc where his devotion to Sri Maharaj, secured him many followers,

In the year 1939, a garbha gudi and a hall with thatched roof was constructed in the site previously bought for constructing Mandir, and pooja was carried on with photos of Sri Ram and Sri Maharaj, and Sri Sadguru Padaka.

Then, on 13-6-49, the marble idols of Sri Ram, Lakshman, Seetha, Maruthi and Sri Brahmachaithanya Maharaj, were installed in the divine presence of  Sri Tatya Saheb Ketkar Maharaj, and Sri Kundagol Narayanappa Maharaj.

Since then Anusthan is being carried on.  In early days, with a view of Annadaan, Mandir provided weekly Meals ( vaaraanna) for different students, hailing from different places, studying in Chintamani. His desire of starting a Vidyaarthi Nilaya (Student’s Hostel) was carried out in 1966, by his youngest brother Sri G. Honnappa..

 He left his mortal coil on 13-4-1969.

He led a saintly life that inspired many to take up Ram-nam.
